To really get the most of your pestemal the first thing you will want to do before machine washing is soak your towel in cold water overnight or at least several hours (around 12 hours).  This should be done before the first washing.  After a nice soak, wring out & let it air dry.

Doing the above steps will allow your towel to provide you with maximum absorption & softness by opening up the long fibers of the Turkish cotton. You should notice your towel will become more absorbent and softer after 3 washes.

with hooks or zippers to preserve tassels

Too much detergent can cause buildup

causing towel to stiffen
